Here's what's new on STLShelf this week.
Free beginner guide. Learning how to 3D print? Our new guide "Turn a Picture Into a 3D Print With AI" takes you through it step by step: choosing a printer (and whether you want single colour or 4 colours), what it really costs each month, setting up your slicer, and turning a picture into a real print. Download it free from the Guides page. We'll email you a copy too.
Try it yourself. On the Guides page you'll find our Santa duckling: the picture we started from, next to the real print we made from it. Press "Try this picture in the 3D Builder" and the same picture opens ready to go, so you can see the process for yourself with one of your free runs.
Filament cheat sheet. Not sure whether to use PLA, PETG, TPU or something else? The new cheat sheet shows what each filament is good for, what to avoid it for, how hard it is to print, and the settings to start with.
Thanks for printing with us. See you next Friday with more.

Your account page now helps you go from an idea to a real print. A new "Your first print" guide walks you through four steps: make your first picture, turn it into a 3D model, send it to your slicer, and print it. Each step ticks off by itself as you go, and the 3D Builder is now right at the top of your account. Below it is your AI 3D printing assistant. Ask it anything: which slicer fits your printer, how to open your model in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer or Cura, supports, nozzle size, bed leveling, calibration or matching your filament colours. Attach a screenshot of your slicer or a photo of a print and it will help you fix what went wrong. It can also find your models, runs, downloads and prints, and draw picture ideas for you. New accounts also get a quick tour after confirming their email.

We are making a series of short how-to videos so you can learn STLShelf step by step: designing a model from a photo, a few words or a drawing in the AI 3D maker, shaping and fixing it in the 3D Builder, setting it up to print without supports, and printing it yourself or having us print and ship it to you. They will be on our Guides page and the STLShelf YouTube channel (@stlshelf). Is there something you would like a video on? Email [email protected] and we will add it to the list.

Everyone is a creator. Listing and selling on STLShelf is now completely free: no monthly fee, no listing fee and no commission. Buyers pay you directly through your own Stripe account, and Stripe's normal card fee is your only cost. Stripe handles every card and bank detail, so we never see or store them.
And there are three ways to sell, in any mix on each listing: 1. Sell the files: free or your own price. 2. Print and ship it yourself: set your price with shipping included, and add the tracking number when it ships. 3. Let STLShelf print and ship it: no printer needed. The buyer pays our print price plus the amount you set, and your amount goes straight to your Stripe account.
Our mission is to help creators design, make and sell without a middleman. We want you to succeed, have fun and enjoy the joy of creating something of your own.

No file? No problem. Describe what you need (a replacement part, a name plate, a gift, a figure of your pet) with its size and a few photos. We design it and send you pictures and a price. Ask for changes as many times as you like, and only pay when you approve it. Then we print it and ship it to you.

Every account now gets 3 free fast runs and 2 free detailed runs in the AI 3D maker each month, plus 2 free remakes per model so you can fix it until it is just right. Turn a photo, a few words or a drawing into a model you can print, then keep it, list it or sell it.

Start typing in the search box on the home page or the new Marketplace page to find models by name as you type. In the 3D Builder you can now erase an extra part on any side of a model, see the model from 4 sides to circle a problem, remake it from your fixes, and email the files to yourself or a friend.

Have a colour model but no multi-colour printer? Upload your colour 3MF or a GLB with colours, see the price, and we check it, print it in full colour and ship it to you with free US shipping. If anything needs fixing we tell you first: print it as is, have us correct it, or cancel for a full refund.
